AICAR
Mitochondrial & MetabolicResearch Use Only
Also known as: Acadesine, AICA ribonucleotide, ZMP
AICAR is a research compound commonly referenced in metabolic and exercise-physiology literature as an activator of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). Studies describe interest in AMPK activation in relation to cellular energy sensing and glucose uptake in preclinical models. It is used primarily as a research tool.
Typical range (research)
Referenced primarily in preclinical research; no established human reference range
Half-life
Short (reported in preclinical data)
Route
Subcutaneous (research)
Common use
AMPK-pathway and metabolic research
Common vial sizes
50 mg
Storage
Store lyophilized powder refrigerated (2–8°C) and protected from light; once reconstituted, keep refrigerated and use within the timeframe supported by stability data.
Stacking notes
Sometimes referenced alongside other metabolic research compounds; combinations are not well characterized. Note AICAR appears on anti-doping prohibited lists.
